About Us
If you're visiting this website, you're
probably a friend or relative, so no introduction is necessary. But if you don't
know us and have stumbled upon this site somehow...welcome!
"We" are Michael and Jennifer Horne, from San Jose, California. We're in our early thirties and recently married (July, 1999). Up until our departure, we both worked in the Silicon Valley software industry (to which we plan to return after our trip). We've both had the travel bug for a very, very long time (yep, we each had the affliction before we even met). When we started dating and learned of each other's love for travel, that only made "the Bug" even worse.

Of course, as any true traveler knows, once you get the Bug, you're finished. Throughout 1997 and 1998, we secretly toyed with the idea of taking an extended world trip, but never seriously considered the matter, with other issues like work and our wedding
always taking the front seat. But the desire was still there, lurking in the background, waiting for an opportunity to resurface. Once we were married and we had some free time on our hands, the Bug returned. In a big way.
We decided shortly after our wedding that if there ever was a time to take a break from the hectic pace of the Valley for a year or so to fulfill our lifetime dream, well, now was that time. The hardest part was making the decision. After many months of planning, we were finally off on our grand adventure!
Thanks go out to our parents, our families, and our friends for all being so supportive and excited about our journey. We will do our best to keep you all updated via email, snailmail, and this web site. Stay tuned....
